Gérald Lafont grew up near Avignon, in a family of winemakers.

His first experiences in the wine world, he owes to his father who gave him the taste for well done work, accuracy and compliance for earth; “my father never encouraged me to work in the wine industry and naturally, slowly it enthralled me and then it became obvious.” During these years of exchanges, he inherits his sensibility and a talent of observation “wines are like we do, they look like us.”

To finance his studies, he works every year in wineries where he learns all winemaking operations. After several years of study in biology and geology, he joins the Montpellier oenology school and obtains his degree in oenology in 2000. He starts his career working for a Languedoc negociant, where he is responsible for production and blendings. In 2001, Gerald is engaged as consultant winemaker in a large oenology firm.

He is consultant during 14 years for more than 30 properties with which he shares his knowledge. He adapts his consulting to the wish of each different property in Northern and Southern Rhône Valley (Crozes-Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf du Pape, Tavel, Lirac), Cotes du Rhone, Languedoc and Provence.

Some of the finest wines of the Rhone Valley are coming from that trust and the collaboration between Gerald and the properties he consults.
